I love the textures and colors of the Opuntia plant. Year round it is a favorite subject for me. The pokey spines, bright delicate blooms of spring, and the red juicy fruit of summer inspires me.

For this impressionistic piece, I began by hand printing and dyeing all the base fabrics. Then embellishing with lace, ribbons, trims, thread and beads I worked to created movement, texture, pattern and contrast in color.
